For over 15 years, Shawn has worked in the therapeutic recreation and fitness field, gaining extensive insight and a unique understanding of the various needs of others and how recreation can be utilized to meet these needs. He has worked with a variety of people, from those with Autism, Down Syndrome, people hard of hearing, the geriatric population, people with mental illness and physical limitations to those who simply want to lose a few pounds. As someone who once struggled with health, himself, Shawn truly appreciates how vital a healthy lifestyle is to a person’s well-being and happiness. He studied at Clemson University where he earned a BS degree in Recreational Therapy. He went on to become a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist), certified personal trainer through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), and a certified CrossFit trainer. 

Shawn enjoys many outdoor recreational activities, including hiking, adventure races, and triathlons. He appreciates that fitness is more than just skin deep and believes everyone can utilize both their strengths and weaknesses to unlock their full potential. He has gained a wide range of work experience including working as a whitewater guide, rock-climbing instructor, boot camp instructor, with the Special Olympics, and as a fitness supervisor for BBC TV and the Biggest Loser. 

As a client of Shawn’s, you can expect to be motivated and encouraged to push your own limits. He believes in starting where you are, clearly identifying goals, and utilizing any available tools to accomplish a successful outcome. Shawn truly values the importance of having a healthy and active lifestyle and always looks forward to any opportunity to promote this desire in other people.
